Terms of Service

The agreement

By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to bind it, and 'you' means that company.

The service is provided by the operator named at the bottom of this page.

What the service is

Linguiqo is a hosted tool for managing the translation of software strings: importing and exporting language files, editing translations, checking their quality, synchronizing them with a git repository, and inviting other people to help.

We develop the product continuously. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn; if we withdraw something you rely on, we will give reasonable notice.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your credentials to yourself. Tell us promptly if you think somebody else has got in.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and the service is intended for professional use rather than for children.

Your content stays yours

Everything you put into the service – source strings, translations, glossaries, screenshots, comments – remains yours. We claim no ownership of it.

You grant us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your content, display it to the people you have given access, process it to provide the features you use, and back it up. Nothing else. We do not use your content to train machine-learning models and we do not share it with anybody except the providers listed in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload.

What you may not do

Use of the service is subject to a short list of limits:

• Breaking the law, or infringing somebody else's rights
• Uploading malware, or using the service to attack anything
• Trying to reach another customer's data, or probing the service for weaknesses without our written permission
• Reselling the service as your own, or reverse engineering it beyond what the law expressly allows
• Placing a load on the service designed to degrade it for others
• Using automated access in a way that ignores the published rate limits

Plans and payment

The free plan is free and has the limits shown on the pricing page. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance through Stripe, and they renew automatically until you cancel.

Cancelling stops the next renewal; the plan you have paid for runs to the end of the period you paid for. We do not pro-rate a partial period, and unless the law where you live gives you a right to one, payments already made are not refunded.

Prices exclude VAT, which is added where it applies. If we change a price we will tell you before the change reaches your next renewal.

If a payment fails we may suspend the paid features after telling you. Your content is not deleted because of a failed payment.

Going over the limit

A plan has a number of slots. If a team goes over it, adding a language and importing more strings are refused until there is room or the plan grows.

Translating never stops. Taking away the ability to finish work already paid for would be the wrong lever to pull, and the tool exists to get translations done.

Trials and the sandbox

A trial gives you a paid plan for a fixed period at no cost, and turns into a paid subscription at the end of it unless you cancel first. We will say so clearly before it starts.

The sandbox at /demo is a temporary workspace seeded with example data. It is deleted two hours after it is created, along with everything in it, and it is not a place to keep anything.

Other people's services

Connecting a git host, or adding a machine-translation key, creates a relationship between you and that provider under their terms. We pass your instructions to them and nothing more; we are not responsible for their service, their availability or their pricing.

You are responsible for the access you grant with a token you give us.

Availability

We work to keep the service available and we do not promise it always will be. There is no uptime guarantee attached to these terms, and we will not pretend otherwise for the sake of a number on a page.

We may take the service down for maintenance, and we will avoid doing it without warning where we reasonably can.

Ending it

You can stop at any time by deleting your team, which removes its projects and their content. Export what you want first: every language downloads as a file, and the API and CLI will do it in bulk.

We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or that we are legally required to stop serving. Except where the breach is serious or we have no choice, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.

If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give at least 30 days' notice so you can take your content with you.

Warranties and liability

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, including that the service will be uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability arising out of these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event that caused the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data where you could reasonably have kept your own copy.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury, or our own fraud or gross negligence. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the product or by email before it takes effect, and continuing to use the service after that means you accept it. If you do not, you may stop using the service and cancel.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law named at the bottom of this page, and the courts named there have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in.

Before going to court, please write to us. Most things are a misunderstanding, and most misunderstandings are cheaper to fix by email.
